Fun tidbit I forgot to mention: Ulysses S. Grant was born Hiram Ulysses Grant. He hated that name because of his initials, which his fellow children had a grand time mocking. When he arrived at West Point, he was incorrectly named U. S. Grant. He tried to get it fixed, but the academy wasn't having it. Relieved to lose the HUG initials, he grew to like it. He confessed to never knowing what the S stood for.
