Back to history! I can imagine my dad reading Blind Man's Bluff: The Untold Story of American Submarine Espionage (by Sherry Sontag, Christopher Drew, and Annette Lawrence Drew) when it came out, around 1998. This one's a collection of short stories, all related as a history of American submarines doing spywork during the Cold War.
